Functions: Pastime and socializing: At the bus-stop


You are next to each other in a queue at the bus-stop. You know you'll be queuing together at least for a quarter of an hour. The weather is good, but there are some clouds in the sky.

Speakers' functions 
 Intentions
A: "Lovely day, isn't it?"  A wants to get into contact with B.
B: "Yes, it is."  oder: (mit fallender Intonation:) B wants to be left alone.
B: "Yes, it makes a nice change ". oder
    " Well, lets's hope, it'll last". 
B shows interest.
A: " It's really a hot day, isn't it ?  A goes on to find out if B wants to talk with him instead of simply being polite.
B: "Yes, it really is ." B confirms his interest.
A: "Quite different from the  forecast. I think the bus is late "  A: finishes talking about weather in order to talk about another topic.
B: "Well, the same old story every day. I'm waiting for No 35 to............................... B responds to the new topic.

You are next to each other in a queue at the ticket office for a concert. You know you'll be queuing together at least for an hour. The weather is bad, it's rainy and windy.
