Today another hunger striker is dying in the Maze Prison. His father told me: "My son will never give up. He is fighting for the freedom of all Ireland". | |||

Armagh earlier today a car bomb
exploded in front of a pub. It injured six people and killed a girl of five.When British soldiers arrived, children and teenagers threw stones and petrol bombs.Some of the children were between 8 and 10 years old. |

There
were 200 people at the funeral of Corporal Len Bolton here today. He died
when a bomb exploded in front of his jeep in Derry last Friday. His mother,
who had come over for the funeral from Leeds, told me later:
" I think the majority of the British want to call our soldiers back from Northern Ireland." |

This
afternoon, members of the Peace Movement have been meeting here in Belfast.
I talked to Protestants and Catholics at
the meeting, and a Catholic Priest, Father Patrick Mulhern, told me:" We believe that the majority of people in Northern Ireland want to live together in peace. They hate the prejudices and the terrorism of the minority." |

In Dublin, the Prime Minister of the Republic said today: "Many people would like a union of the two parts of Ireland. But we must all be realistic. At the moment, the majority of people in Northern Ireland want to stay British. We must all work together for a compromise." |
